Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why should I use a personal lubricant?
Personal lubricants ensure your intimate area is well lubricated and prevent painful friction. As a result, you can have more intense sex using a personal lubricant and also explore more exciting techniques. This is because personal lubricants are extremely versatile. You can use them to enjoy sensual foreplay, a relaxing massage or to enhance pleasure during sex. Furthermore, personal lubricants are a must with anal sex because this area of the body does not produce any natural lubrication.
  • Can I use pjur personal lubricants while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Yes. We only use carefully selected, pure ingredients in our personal lubricants that meet extremely high quality standards. During this time, we particularly recommend using pjur med NATURAL glide with natural ingredients as well as pjur med PREMIUM glide and our pjur WOMAN Nude, which does not contain any preservatives.
  • Can I use pjur lubricants if I want to get pregnant?
pjur lubricants are absolutely neutral with regard to sperm activity. Our lubricants contain no spermicide substances and are not a contraceptive. The formulas are optimally aligned with the pH value of the woman’s genital area and thus do not affect the mobility or life expectancy of spermatozoa, nor does it have any influence on the natural vaginal fluid. pjur products stand out for their “neutral” behavior and optimal compatibility and have neither a positive or a negative influence on a desired pregnancy.
  • Are all pjur personal lubricants condom compatible?
All of our personal lubricants undergo a condom test. So you can rest assured that all pjur personal lubricants are also compatible with latex condoms.
  • What is the shelf life of pjur lubricants?
pjur lubricants generally have a shelf-life of 3-5 years. A ‘Use by’ date is shown on every product package, located near the barcode. This indicates the recommended period by which the product should be used, once it has been opened.
  • Which products are best for massages?
Our pjur SPA products are the best option for massages. The five pjur SPA clear massage lotions are real innovations – they feel like massage oils but do not contain oil or fat. This means that they do not leave a greasy film on your skin after a sensuous massage. They can be wiped off easily, quickly and - most importantly - without leaving behind any residue, leaving your skin feeling dry yet also soft and enriched. What's more, pjur SPA ScenTouch products are breathable as they do not clog pores. Their subtle, pleasant fragrances make them the perfect choice for your next massage. Our personal lubricants are also great for massages thanks to their outstanding lubricating properties.
  • Can pjur silicone-based products also be used with sex toys?
After conducting long-term tests, well-known toy manufacturers have confirmed that our silicone-based personal lubricants are suitable for use with their products. We are not aware of any cases where problems have occurred. pjur only uses extremely high-grade silicones that are also used, for example, in the cosmetics industry for the production of hair care and skincare products. However, to be sure, you can test our personal lubricants beforehand on a small area of your sex toy. pjur water-based personal lubricants are, of course, perfect for use with sex toys.
  • Have all pjur products been tested for skin compatibility?
Before they can impress users with long-lasting lubrication and other special properties, personal lubricants must be skin compatible. After all, they come into contact with skin and mucous membranes. Mucous membranes are particularly unforgiving if we don’t treat them properly. So it's crucial that we pay extra special attention to ingredients here. This is why all products and ingredients developed and used by pjur are dermatologically tested to ensure they are completely skin compatible.
  • What pjur products would you recommend to someone who frequently suffers from fungal infections?
Many women suffer repeatedly from fungal infections. Water-based products are not always the best solution here as the ingredient glycerin can promote the growth of these bacteria. In this case, it makes more sense to use silicone-based products that do not contain glycerin. We recommend our pjur med PREMIUM glide. Its pure ingredients make it the ideal choice, even for highly sensitive skin. The personal lubricant forms a protective film on the skin. It does not clog pores and leaves the skin feeling silky smooth while providing extra long-lasting lubrication. Furthermore, numerous tests have confirmed that this product is allergy friendly. We also recommend our water-based products that are free from preservatives such as our pjur WOMAN Nude or pjur med SENSITIVE as these have been specially developed for sensitive skin and are guaranteed to be extremely skin compatible.
  • Are there any products for highly sensitive skin?
We recommend using our pjur med PREMIUM glide if you have sensitive or highly sensitive skin. It is extremely gentle to skin thanks to the purity of its ingredients. Once applied, it creates a protective film that does not clog pores but leaves your skin feeling silky smooth, while providing extra long-lasting lubrication. Our pjur med PREMIUM glide is also the perfect product if you suffer from allergies or neurodermatitis. It has been confirmed as allergy friendly in multiple tests.
  • Can personal lubricants help with vaginal dryness?
Regular use of a personal lubricant can help relieve the symptoms of vaginal dryness. A personal lubricant can help compensate for the lack of moisture in your intimate area. Our products in the pjur med range are particularly well suited for this. Comprising pure, extremely high-quality active ingredients, these products can provide valuable support here - which is why they are also recommended by gynaecologists to help combat vaginal dryness.
  • Why do I need a personal lubricant for anal sex?
The anal area of the body is not naturally lubricated. The use of a personal lubricant is therefore a must for pleasurable anal sex. This is the only way of compensating for the lack of natural lubrication in this area. Our anal products also contain certain additives such as jojoba and hyaluron to make anal sex even more enjoyable.
  • Is it safe to orally ingest pjur personal lubricants?
pjur personal lubricants are Made in Germany using carefully selected, pure ingredients. They do not contain any critical substances and are safe to orally ingest. Our products are subject to strict quality control measures. Our commitment here is backed by certifications, external tests and quality seals from independent organizations. Nevertheless, our personal lubricants should not be ingested in large amounts as this may have a laxative effect.
  • Is silicone harmful to my body?
No. We only use the highest quality, purest silicones that are not harmful to the human body. Silicone molecules are larger than skin pores. As a result, they remain on the surface of the skin and are not absorbed. They form a breathable protective film that ensures long-lasting lubrication. The body then breaks down the personal lubricant as part of the natural process to regenerate the vagina's mucous membranes.

  • Do any pjur products contain flavourings or colourings?
No. Due to our extremely high quality standards, all of our products are manufactured without colour additives and they are all neutral in taste.
  • Are there any products that are free from preservatives, glycerin and parabens?
We've developed a product specifically for health-conscious women that is free from all additives: pjur WOMAN Nude. It does not contain preservatives, glycerin or parabens and was developed specifically for women with delicate and sensitive skin. Our pjur med SENSITIVE glide is another product that does not contain preservatives, glycerin or parabens.
  • Are lidocaine and benzocaine used in pjur products?
No, none of our lubricants or sprays contain lidocaine (an anesthetic). None of our products contain benzocaine.
  • Are there any products that do not contain preservatives?
All pjur silicone-based personal lubricants and the water-based personal lubricant pjur WOMAN Nude are free from preservatives. Our pjur med PREMIUM glide, pjur med SOFT glide and pjur med SENSITIVE glide from the pjur med range also do not contain preservatives. In addition, our pjur SPA ScenTouch Neutral Way massage lotion is free from preservatives.
  • What effect does jojoba have?
Our silicone-based products for anal intercourse contain high-grade jojoba extracts. The soothing, nurturing properties of jojoba can relax the anal muscle and leave the skin feeling much softer and more supple.
  • What effect does hyaluron have?
The natural ingredient hyaluron in our water-based anal products can bind large amounts of water. This allows it to form small cushions of water that significantly boost the lubricating effect of these products. This is particularly important in the anal area as the body does not produce any natural lubrication here.

Product Differentiation

  • What is the difference between water-based and silicone-based products?
pjur water-based personal lubricants ensure your intimate area is well lubricated and also care for your skin. They are our classic personal lubricant formulas. They are absorbed into the top layers of skin and leave the skin feeling great while at the same time delivering outstanding lubrication without any stickiness. Water-based personal lubricants can also be used with all toys. pjur silicone-based personal lubricants contain the highest-grade silicones that provide extra long-lasting lubrication and a host of other benefits. Silicone molecules are larger than the pores in human skin. As such, they form a breathable protective film that makes the skin soft and smooth. What's more, our silicone-based personal lubricants do not contain preservatives, are highly skin compatible, allergy friendly and dermatologically tested.
  • What's the difference between pjur BACK DOOR and pjur analyse me! Silicone Anal Glide?
Both products contain premium-grade jojoba extracts that help relax. The soothing, nurturing properties of jojoba can relax the anal muscle and leave the skin feeling much softer and more supple. The added silicone ensures extra long-lasting lubrication. The ingredients in pjur BACK DOOR Silicone Glide are more highly concentrated, however, to meet the needs of more intensive anal intercourse.
  • What's the difference between pjur BACK DOOR and analyse me! Water Anal Glide?
Both products contain hyaluron, which binds moisture and creates small cushions of water that enhance the lubricating effect. This provides added lubrication, which is particularly important in the anal area as this part of the body does not naturally produce any lubrication. The ingredients in pjur BACK DOOR Water Anal Glide, however, are more highly concentrated than in pjur analyse me! Water Anal Glide, making it ideal for intensive anal sex.
  • What's the difference between pjur ORIGINAL and pjur WOMAN?
pjur WOMAN and pjur ORIGINAL are very similar as both products have the same ingredients. The only difference lies in their concentration. pjur WOMAN has been designed specifically for women with sensitive skin and leaves the skin feeling especially soft, which is particularly important for women.

  • What packaging sizes does pjur offer?
To ensure we provide the right amount of personal lubricant and massage lotion for every customer and every need, we offer pjur products in a range of sizes. Take a look in our shop at the different sizes available for the product you want.
  • What quality controls are pjur products subject to?
The name pjur is a by-word for premium-quality products "Made in Germany". All products are made and bottled in Germany. Some pjur products have been awarded quality seals with the rating "very good" by independent consumer organisations. Product quality and safety are a top priority in all areas of the company – from choosing ingredients through production to the delivery of our products to our customers. This is why our customers trust us and it's what our partners rely on. To ensure this never changes, all of our products are subject to a rigorous quality and safety management system.
  • What's the best way to get rid of stains?
Unfortunately, our experience shows that silicone stains will not come out of textiles with a single wash. However, they can be removed after 3 - 4 washes using commercial washing detergent at the right temperature. If necessary, you can remove silicone stains more quickly using a silicone/oil stain remover from your chemist.
  • Where can I buy pjur products?
Our products are available online from platforms such as Amazon as well as from our online shop and in specialist erotic shops.
  • Why do pjur bottles have a screw cap and not a pump dispenser?
In our product development process, when we look at ways of ensuring hygiene and preventing our products from leaking, safety and quality are always our top priorities. Unfortunately, there is always a residual risk in this area with pump dispensers. This risk is currently too high for our standards. We do use a pump dispenser with our slightly thicker pjur Toy Lube and this has proven to be a good solution for this product. However, we have not been able to use this type of closure with our less viscous pjur products due to the consistency of their formulas.
  • Why do some pjur personal lubricants smell even though they do not contain any perfumes?
pjur does not add synthetic flavourings or perfumes to any of its personal lubricants. There is always a risk with these kinds of additives that they could trigger skin reactions or even allergic reactions. Our top priority when it comes to our ingredients and additives is to ensure they are compatible with users' bodies. However, some pure ingredients may have a slight inherent odour. This may be noticeable when you open the bottle but it dissipates when you use or apply the product.
